U.S. Post Office - Lakeview Branch
1343 W. Irving Park Road
Chicago, Illinois

The mural in the Lakeview Branch, Chicago, Illinos post office was painted by Henry Sternberg in 1938. It is oil on canvas and measures 24'2" x 7'7". The title is "Chicago - Epoch of a Great City". It was funded under the Treasury Department Section of Painting and Sculpture and can be viewed during regular lobby hours.

However, due to years of exposure, it was in great need of some TLC! David Baldwin and his wife formed a group called "Friends of the Lakeview Post Office Mural" which raised the funds to have the mural cleaned and repaired.

The Lakeview Post Office Mural was restored by Parma Conservation (Chicago, IL). The project was completed in mid-August 2003.

There was a rededication event in September 2003. Congratulations to the Friends of the Lakeview Post Office Mural!

Special thanks to David Baldwin for the photographs. For more photographs and information, visit his website at www.lakeviewpostofficemural.com
